This is why we have a republic, not a democracy. Democracies are ruled by the voice of the mob (the 51st percentile), not the rights of an individual in a free society to life, liberty and property. In this case the mob is preventing a woman in a wheelchair from leaving a “conservative” event because they have blockaded the doors.

Hearing the laughter in the background near the end of the video, it’s sounds like there is some heavy spiritual stuff happening here as well.

This makes me think of my friend David Weber at KingDavidsTable.com; he’s been talking lately about the power of “remitting other’s sins” and how we can use this to create profound shifts in people and society (I know it’s a sharp turn, stay with me).

In the remitting process we take another’s bad behavior on as our own, and apologize to God on their behalf as if the sin were our own, to free the person from their bondage and judgement.

11-8-11 Update: after discussing this a bit with the aforementioned David Weber, I should make an edit: remitting for someone else’s wicked ways might actually bring judgement upon them–not free from from it.  In this way steel could be forged from iron, and the trial the God may bring to bear to judge someone may be very positive in the long run.  Also, the line about freeing them from bondage is too black and white; rather the remittance process can be a catalyst to “freedom.”  Where “freedom” is defined as the progression towards God, and righteousness.

Although foolish to most people, this is a technique that acknowledges the wisdom of The Cross; that through our own sacrifices and trials, we can slice through the “spiritual wickedness in high places” to get to the core of a person’s actions and cause profound waves in the spirit world.

I bring it up now because if we are to manifest lasting change in the world, we need to use this technique far more frequently than we currently are and demonstrate true people-power democracy.

Here’s my crack at it: “God, I recognize that in reaction to the madness I see in the world, I’ve tried to control people around me and have been blind to your plan.  I bring my own flaws to your altar along with the protesters in the #Occupy movement so that we can both be dealt with and the spiritual wickedness at work behind the scenes can be purged and bound by the Almighty Spirit of Christ.  In the name and character of Christ I command it to be done.”
